Judex Paul
Chair of the Diocesan Risk Assessment and Management Team (DRAMT)
An experienced retired Senior Local Government Manager, Judex brings to the Diocese and Safeguarding, over 40 years of experience gained in the public sector, working for Local Authorities in Durham and Dumfries.
Judex has a background in nursing, public administration, strategic planning, and facilitative management at local and central government, customer relations, social work (field and residential services), paralegal studies, University law lecturing (Human Rights and Disability Law), Internal Quality System auditing, Equality and Diversity (being the first of 5 government-appointed consultants to develop the value-based unit within national vocational qualifications), Chairing the influential Local Authority Managers’ National Complaints Groups, both in England and in Scotland, Leading on the first ever reform to social services complaints legislation and procedures in England, and being a key contributor to the reform of public services’ complaints procedures across Scotland.
Since his retirement, Judex was elected President of his local Rotary Club in 2017; he remains a long serving member of Nationwide’s Community Support Grants Board, which aims to eliminate/reduce the problems of homelessness and rough sleeping in Scotland, and until recently, he led the Sycamore programme within his local parish church of St Teresa's, in Dumfries, for over 4 seasons, and he has also been involved in the church’s synodal process.

Tony Fisher BA(Hons)Social Work(Scot), Cert MHSC
Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser
Tony has been employed in social services and education with local government and the Third Sector since 1985. He was based in North Ayrshire with spells working in Dumfries and Galloway, Glasgow and East Ayrshire.
As a parishioner of the St Mary's Star of the Sea Community in Saltcoats, he has been a member of the Scottish Saint Vincent De Paul Society for over 10 years and a Parish Safeguarding Coordinator for the last 4 years. He qualified as a social worker in 2016.
He joined the Diocese as DSA in September 2022.

Geraldine Butcher
I am Geraldine Butcher and a parishoner at St Peters in Chains Church Ardrossan. I have three children, two grandchildren and I am a semi-retired midwife. I started working as a volunteer in our Children's Liturgy in 2011 and became a Safeguarding Trainer in October 2018. I am currently helping out as a steward and hoping the time will come soon when we can all meet more freely.

Hilary McKenzie B.Sc.(Soc. Sci.), Master of Library Science, MA (Children’s Literature)
Hilary’s professional background is in librarianship. She studied at the University of British Columbia and, on returning to the UK, chartered with the (then) Library Association. She spent forty years in London and was the Librarian for Cardinal Wiseman High School, Greenford for over twenty-five years. On retirement, a longing for home and the call of family brought her to Ayr where she volunteered with SPRED Galloway, joining their Board of Trustees in 2017. As a result of this involvement she applied and trained to be a Safeguarding trainer in the Diocese of Galloway.

Mari Biondi
I am Mari Biondi and I stay in Irvine, Ayrshire. I am a carer for my husband and have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. I am an experienced Parish Safeguarding Coordinator, having taken on that role in 2005, and an experienced Safeguarding Trainer, having taken on that role in 2017. I have been a member of Girl Guiding for 50 years.
